Initial Evaluations

Initial evaluations usually last 60-75 minutes, and return appointments last 30-60 minutes depending on your individual needs.

Dr. John Clell Hamm is the founder and owner of Hamm Hearing Aid Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. He transitioned from a successful banking career to audiology in the late 1990s after witnessing the profound impact hearing aids had on a patient’s life. Inspired by this experience, he established the center in 2001 to provide personalized hearing solutions to the community.

Dr. Hamm holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a nationally board-certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and a licensed hearing aid specialist in North Carolina. His professional affiliations include serving as a member of the Board of Governors for the International Hearing Society (IHS). In recognition of his advocacy efforts, he was honored with the Lovell Advocacy Award by the IHS. Additionally, Dr. Hamm is a past president and current board member of the North Carolina Association of Hearing Care Professionals, where he received the 2013 Award for Outstanding Achievements and Dedication. His leadership has been instrumental in promoting legislation that ensures access to quality hearing care for North Carolina residents.

Beyond his role at Hamm Hearing Aid Center, Dr. Hamm has contributed to the field by heading the hearing aid division at Greater Carolina ENT, further demonstrating his commitment to enhancing hearing health in the region.
